Have you ever felt this calling? A tug on your heart, a nudge on your soul, a whisper at the back of your mind? There is more to life than meets the eye. There is more to you than you are aware of. There is a path, and it is waiting for you.
In a world driven by power and possession, it is time for us to remember that all of it is manmade, and should we disappear tomorrow as a species, the earth we live on would exhale and recover, the parasite finally gone. It has not always been this way, and it does not need to be. We are only just beginning to understand that tribal people across the world lived in tune with nature and held a knowledge we struggle to dig out from under the layers of society and industrialism. We can see it wherever tribal cultures have made it into the modern age, and we have to reevaluate how we see the neolithic hunter-gatherers, our ancestors who held more wisdom than we have previously credited them for. Such findings spark my hope for the future.
But there is more that we can do, and more we must.
I see many people, especially in younger generations, looking for an alternative path, searching for an alternative future and our souls are beginning to speak up. “Remember me”, they seem to whisper into our ears. To me it feels as if our ancestors as a collective are beginning to hum and drum, and their beat is getting louder. A wake up call for our consciousness.
And when we listen, we are tasked. Not with re-enacting and reconstructing some distant past. That perfect past is an illusion that never was, it had many more struggles than most of us meet today. Instead, it is time we carry the old wisdom forward, into today’s world, into all we have already gained and reached as a species.
What does it look like, you may ask, the life of a witch in modern society? It can take many shapes and forms. The witch may be a healer, a reader of cards, a herbalist. Or they may be a scientist, a teacher, a farmer. Whatever they chose, they chose freely, and thus is the power of witchcraft – it empowers us.
We are no longer bound to some greater power, to the wills of a god who decides a path for us, not even to the shackles our civilisation has built; from working class to poverty. We own our lives, and with a pinch of magic we manifest our wildest dreams. We run free under the sun and dance under the moonlight, and we may chose for ourselves whichever path we please.
We are now entering a time where more of us are ‘waking up’, consciously seeking and following the gentle tug of their souls. And whether you found your way here through a soft nudge, a harsh push or even a burn, it does not matter. The path is yours, and you are here to claim it.
You navigate the realms and work magic to create your own life and that around you. You tune in. You know that everything is alive and you listen. You embrace your wild nature.
You encompass duality. You live in the flow of the elements, seasons and in tune with the moon. You honour your ancestors and follow your guides.
One leg in this world, one leg in the other, you ride the hedge and are a bridge, a beacon in a world of change. We need you, for together we carry the torch into a future of healing.
